Gabriola Island ~ How to Get Here & What to Do

Known as Petroglyph Island, a nickname acquired because of its wealth of ancient native stone carvings, Gabriola Island is one of the enchanting Gulf Islands of British Columbia.

In a pleasant rural setting of forested parks and quiet beaches, Gabriola's residents enjoy a mild temperate climate, a relaxed lifestyle and a strong sense of community. Picturesque roads lead to sensational ocean views, and the sandstone shoreline can be walked almost indefinitely.

How to Get Here:

From Vancouver Internation Airport:

by Seaplane - Tofino Air flies daily from the Millionaire Terminal, a scenic 15 minute flight to Silva Bay Marina (5 minutes from the house).  The $75.00 flight is worth every cent.

by Ferry - BC Ferries hourly service from either Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, or Twassen to Duke Point allows you flexibility on timing and access to rental cars from the airport for use on the island should you need one.  From Nanaimo marina a 20 minute scenic ferry ride connects Vancouver Island with Gabriola Island.

From Victoria - Highway #1 allows a 1 1/2 hour coatal drive to the Gabriola ferry.

By Private Boat - A full service marina at Silva Bay (5 minutes from the house), and a boat launch beside our property in Degnen Bay, makes for a boaters dream.
